We are a full-service drilling company located just south of Greenville, South Carolina. We specialize in drilling for deep foundations.
Our company was established in 1985 and has steadily grown into a highly diversified and well-respected company. Our primary service area includes South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.
We own and operate a modern and well-maintained fleet of drill rigs and support equipment and our crews are very knowledgeable and experienced. In recent years, the majority of our work has been in the installation of bridge foundations. We have completed foundations for more than one hundred bridge construction projects in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia in the past five years.
These projects have required shafts with depths over 100 feet and diameters up to 96 inches. Drilling methods ranged from slurry drilling in sandy material to air hammer drilling in very hard rock.
We believe that our experience and technical expertise make us uniquely qualified to handle the toughest drilling tasks, and we welcome the opportunity to tackle specialized "one-of-a-kind" problems as well as the routine. This affiliation reflects alignment and collaboration, not an operational change. Lee & Sims will continue to operate independently under their existing leadership with President Brandon Sims & Vice President Matt Stone and will continue providing a high level of service to their broad client base across the construction industry.
Our goal is simple: strengthen partnership, preserve independence, enhance capabilities, and support long-term growth while bolstering the excellent performance and reputation Lee & Sims has built over several decades.

Our History
Lee & Sims Drilling Services was founded in 1985 by Mr. Wendell Lee and Mr. Bruce Sims. At that time, both of these men already had over 30 years of experience in the drilling industry. Their combined experience included well drilling for public and private water supply systems, large diameter drilling for foundations and de-watering wells, environmental drilling for ground water monitoring and recovery as well as methane gas recovery.
The company initially focused primarily on water well drilling but quickly moved into the environmental arena as the demand for environmental drilling soared in the late 80’s and early 90’s. In 1988, Mr. Sims brought his eldest son, John, on board to oversee field operations and grow the business. The company thrived during the early 90’s primarily on revenue from environmental drilling.
As the demand for environmental drilling waned in the late 90’s, Lee & Sims began to venture more into construction related drilling. In 1997, Mr. Sims convinced his second son, Don, to leave his position as a consulting engineer and join the company as the business manager. In 1998, Mr. Sims bought Mr. Lee’s share of the company and became the sole owner. As opportunities arose, the company expanded its capabilities and shifted more and more into construction drilling. Today, Lee & Sims receives the majority of its revenue from the drilling of large diameter drilled shafts for foundations.
Bruce Sims passed away in December of 2003 and the company was operated by his sons, John and Don Sims until their retirement in 2025. The company now operates under the leadership of third generation President Brandon Sims and Vice President Matt Stone.
